4 Strategies to Re-Enter the Post COVID World Mindfully

This week I was reminded to slow down!

COVID affected all of us in ways I don’t think we’ll fully understand for some time. I believe we’re all crawling out like turtles coming out of our shell, wondering if it’s safe, asking ourselves if we’re ready. Meanwhile, the world has started up as if nothing ever happened.

Over the last two weeks, I was in the fast lane, moving at warp speed with the rest of the world; back to being on the road, in the office, and out with friends.

I believe we’re all crawling out like turtles coming out of our shell, wondering if it’s safe, asking ourselves if we’re ready.

As usual, I got so focused on getting back to life that I stressed myself out and brushed by the nuances, the little details, and unanswered questions that need and deserve attention and love.

As you re-enter the world post-COVID, tune in and pay attention to the details.

Consider these strategies to help you re-enter most mindfully:

  1. Don’t over-schedule. Isn’t this the thing that burned us out before COVID? Your time is precious. Don’t get into the trap of over-scheduling yourself. Forget about FOMO. Embrace being present.

  2. Set boundaries. COVID forced us to slow down and re-evaluate our priorities. Maintain the healthy balance of work, life, parenting, and self-care you experienced as a COVID silver lining.

  3. Check-in with people. Everyone is moving at their own pace. We’re not all ready for the same thing at the same time. Ask people how they’re feeling about re-entry, understand their boundaries, and be open and willing to respect them.

  4. Make time for yourself. OMG, if there’s anything we learned from COVID, let it be that we took time for walks, yoga, meditation, cooking, baking, lunch breaks, and deeper connections with people we love. All of these things nourish our souls. Make sure to continue to nurture yourself in this way.

We’re all going through this together for the first time. Let us be mindful, patient, and empathetic toward ourselves and each other as we emerge from our shells.
