Are You Aligned with Your Inner Values?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about values. I’ve been asking myself, what are my values, am I aligned with my values, are my values reflected in my actions and behaviors at work, in my relationships, and in my parenting?

I loved this post from the Dalai Lama,

“I really feel that inner values are the most important thing in building a happy world. Once you consider others and respect others, there is no room for cheating, exploiting, or bullying. Then trust develops and a positive sense of competition thinking, “I want to be equal to my friends.” But trying to hinder others or create obstacles for them in order to come first, is a negative aspect of competition, isn’t it?”

Empathy, respect, and appreciation for the things that make us different and the humanity that connects us are the values I want to show up with every day.

When we see the differences in each other, we armor up. Instead, what would happen if we got curious about the opportunity to learn something new or create something amazing together.

It takes courage, an open mind, and a big open heart. It’s scary and exciting. Just imagine.

P.S. Here are 7 things that inspired me this week:

  1. Check out these gorgeous love birds.

  2. Now this, is my dream home.

  3. Many thanks to Komen for allowing me to share my story here.

  4. My son made these during school vacation. They tasted as good as they looked.

  5. I love this reminder from Mariam Gates on re-entry.

  6. Who needs to double down?

  7. I made this with fresh seafood and it was AMAZING!
