I have this memory of my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Rowe, telling me my work was careless and that I rush to finish. But, she said,
“If you just slow down, you’ll get the answers right.”
I’m a taskmaster. I love lists, and I love crossing things off my list even more. However, I’ve noticed throughout my life that my desire to complete tasks sometimes comes at the expense of quality work, which I believe to be the reason I still remember what Mrs. Rowe said.
A good friend introduced me to this podcast. I love it because the author, Siri Lindley, provides straightforward, snackable life advice.
This week’s message struck a chord with me. She said,
“Do things with 100% effort.”
How many of us are checking off the tasks on the list without a second thought, or better, multi-tasking to get things done. Have you ever gone through your day and you couldn’t remember what you did? It’s a regular occurrence for me.
Siri’s message this week is a wake-up call to stop, slow down, and make sure you are fully present in whatever you’re doing, even if it’s just sipping your morning coffee.
It may mean fewer tasks get completed, but you’ll feel so much pride in your achievements, you’ll have deeper connections with the people in your life, and you’ll experience more happiness and less anxiety.
P.S. Here are 7 things that inspired me this week:
My good friend, Jay Hummer just released his new book. If you’re looking for something uplifting, I highly recommend it.
