10 Songs to Power Up Your Workout

Somewhere after my 45th birthday, I realized I was slowly and consistently putting on weight.  Virtually nothing but my age had changed.  I was practicing yoga regularly and eating moderately but I was now having trouble keeping off the weight.

So, after 18 years of a regular yoga practice (with no incorporated cardio exercise), I decided it was time to introduce a little heart-pumping activity into my routine.

Enter Orangetheory, a full-body workout focused on 5 heart rate zones.  Outside of being an awesome workout, it feels a bit like a nightclub inside, dark with low, orange (of course) lighting and very loud music.

They play quite a diverse set of tunes and it reminded me of some of my personal favorites.

In no particular order, I thought I’d share the songs that power me up during a workout and make me feel alive!

  1. This is Me. Kesha

  2. Where the Streets Have No Name. U2

  3. Changes. 2pac

  4. Don’t Stop Believing. Journey

  5. I Lived. One Republic

  6. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye

  7. Something Just Like This.  The Chainsmokers and Coldplay

  8. Can’t Stop the Feeling.  Justin Timberlake

  9. Adventure of a Lifetime.  Coldplay

  10. Martyr.  Rusted Root

What do you think?  What are some of your favorites?  Reply in the comments below.  I’d love to know.

Of course, if you enjoyed this post, I’d love it if you share it with your world.
