In a powerful move last week, International Women’s Day announced its 2019 campaign theme, #BalanceForBetter. As I read the article, I found myself saying, YES! over and over again.
International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women. This year, IWD boldly calls for all of us to take continuous action to bring gender-balance back in our work and in our communities.
Here are 3 ways we can all support this effort:
Use our voices to speak up when something doesn’t feel right or align with our values.
Support other women who are speaking their voices, and who are daring to think and act creatively and independently.
Use collaboration and connection to come together and collectively move an initiative forward or solve a problem.
Our world is wildly off-balance today politically, economically, and socially. For many, this imbalance trickles all the way to each one of us causing stress on our emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
As we think about what we can do to support gender-based balance, I invite all of us to take it a step further and ask what can we do to better balance our bodies, minds, and overall well-being, our relationships with our families, friends, and colleagues? I’m interested in knowing from you, what other ways can you find better balance?
