Celebrate Everything

Our family has experienced many ups and downs in the last two weeks.

I passed the one-year mark since my breast cancer diagnosis. I’m happy to report I am one year cancer-free. I’m celebrating by co-hosting a yoga class with Jen Houghtaling to raise money for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. You can sign up for class here.

At the same time, we said goodbye to our girl Molly. Our 15-year-old Coton de Tulear had been declining for a few months when her cancer metastasized, and we made the difficult decision to euthanize her. The day before we said goodbye was her birthday, so we celebrated her life and the unconditional love she gave us by giving her the most salivating dinner and the sweetest cupcake.

I mention these two events to say that life has so many ups and downs and can be difficult, but we can choose to find the celebration and the joy in everything.

That’s not to say we should deny ourselves the sadness. It’s essential to feel and express all the feelings that come with challenging times and remember to see the joy and celebrate the good.

I’ll look forward to seeing you next time.
