Purpose. It’s My Word in 2022

Happy New Year, Friends!

It’s that time of year, time to organize and guide your focus for the year ahead.

Each year at this time, I think about my own personal and professional goals. I’m excited to share that my husband, Greg, and I created a family goal this year as well.

The next step in goal setting is to consider one word that will be the guiding force to ensure you stay on the path to achieve everything you’ve set out to achieve.

2022 is my fourth year doing this practice, and it has been an important exercise in helping me evolve and grow. My word in 2019 was RISE. The Believe in Balance blog is a significant event that rose (pun intended) from my word in 2019. Here are my words in 2020 and 2021.

This year’s word is PURPOSE!

It feels so fitting for me. If you know me or have been following me for a while, you know I’m immersed in many different things that bring me joy, this blog, for one, my Know Like Trust podcast and my work at Leading Edge.

As I looked across these pieces of my life, I noticed the common thread is my desire to help people find balance, joy, peace, courage, and ultimately growth. Thus my purpose is realized.

I’ve also created an acronym to help me implement and stay accountable throughout the year. PURPOSE, in its complete form, is here:

People – People are at the heart of my purpose because people are who I serve.

Unity – My purpose is to unite people within my universe and create new connections, relationships, and opportunities.

Relationships – When relationships are built, new ideas take shape, and people grow.

Patrons – These are my customers, my listeners, you, my readers, and everyone I serve within my communities.

Opportunity – Opportunities for impact are everywhere if we are open to them.

Sage – This is my new word for me. I must give credit to a mentor for bestowing it on me. Through personal experience and wisdom, I hope to help people find their wisdom.

Experience – Finally, I fulfill my purpose by providing the best possible experience to my patrons.

If you’re interested in learning more about how this came about, check out the Know Like Trust Livecast with my co-host Betti Russo.

If you’ve never done the one-word exercise, I invite you to download  Debra Trappen’s guiding word booklet here.

I’ll see you next time.

Plus, here are seven things that inspire me.

  1. This lady. I invite you to join her with me on Tuesdays for 10 minutes at Noon eastern on my insta handle @christinecarlogeorge.

  2. This local business. Woman owned, hand-made and so luxurious.

  3. They’re back. I can’t wait to spend some time here this summer.

  4. Need a new head shot? This guy. He does amazing work.

  5. Uh, yup….for sure.
